Last posting: Thursday, January 01, 200920 other firms change my address with no problem but there is always one moron you have to contend with. This AUM company insists that the post office software they use is telling them the address of my mail receiving service isn't correct so they can't change my address. I don't get the bill because they don't (& won't) make the change, plus they have the gall to try and charge me $7 late fee!

Complaint About Really Stupid People Who Work For Your Firm
Dear Sir:
I have spent a great deal of time on this matter today and I am entirely displeased and will be forwarding a complaint on the matter to the PSC.
Over a month ago I phoned your CS number to find out what the bill was and put in an address change. The amount due was 88 cents and I was told that it would just be put onto the next months bill as anything under $1 was just carried over.
I also gave them my 'new' address, a mailing service where I have a box and who receive and forward my mail when I am out of town.
Today by chance I checked the service address mail box and found a bill for $68.84 (attached) which included a $7.00 'late payment charge'. In looking into this and speaking with an incredibe bunch of pencil pushers (Lisa, CS Mgr & P. Williams Call Center mgr) I learned that the address change never went into effect as they were 'unable to verify' the new address with the USPS automated postal equipment.
They absolutely REFUSED to make the address change or credit back the $7 late charge.
I am in no way responsible for the nonsense argument given by Williams that they 'can't' change my address. Every other firm I requested a change from has changed the address and my mail comes in regularly, from Amexp, City Corp, various banks and even a statement from an overseas bank, which arrived today (see attached redacted copy).
The foolishness I have encountered with my dealings over a simple address change reflect the worst of the pencil pusher mentality. Your firm is worse than the IRS or the DMV. Your people simply haven't got enough common sense to come in out of the rain.
The address below is my one and only address for the receipt of mail and I am in no way interested in some made up BS story about how the 'Postal Service' can't verify the address. They deliver 2 tubs of mail to this mail service every day and it has been open for 4 years that I know of, so let's not spout more nonsense about how you can't change the address. I don't like liars or pencil pushers. If you want to get paid then you better send the bills to my address and I also want that $7 'Late Payment Charge' reversed, I won't send ANY payment until these matters are cleared up.
I am however, putting in complaints with the PSC and the BBB about your firm.
Sincerely,
Bill H

3 months later - still no address change!
Annoyed Consumer - Panama City (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, June 25, 2008 POSTED: Wednesday, June 25, 2008
After another 3 months have past since my initial post and AUM is still not sending their statements to the correct address, what happens to them I have no idea but if they ever do send the bills to my correct address then I will pay them, but NO 'late charges' they were told six months ago about the address change, so any late charges are not going to be paid. Here is my latest letter:

RE: Complaint about AUM - Listing on Rip Off Report
Dear Sir:
Six months have now past since I first informed your company of my address change. Since I have had no incoming from you in at least 3 months it seems that you still have not had enough common sense to make the change.
I am enclosing a copy of one of several consumer sites where I have posted my complaints about your stupid company. Shortly I will be updating them to reflect your continued foolishness in not changeing the address and posting copies of my prior letters and 1 incoming item.
I did get a reply - at the correct - address some months from someone you passed my last letter of to, so clearly your firm can write to me at the correct address if you wish to do it.
I have also written to the BBB and Panama City Beach Water Department to update them on your firms stupidity.
Sincerely,
Bill H

A final update on my dealings with AUM
Annoyed Consumer - Panama City (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, January 01, 2009 POSTED: Thursday, January 01, 2009
I am the author of the original complaint. The matter with AUM is now 'settled' with the address change finally going into effect and some credits issued to my account as explained below.
When I finally did get all the monthly bills at the 'correct' address I was both amazed and annoyed to find that in months that I was NOT at my condo I was being charged more for water than those months when I was at the condo and using water.
AUM bills you a flat rate for 2000 gallons of water whether you use it or not, if you go over the 2000 then you get billed extra. This is fine with me, people who use more should of course pay more. The problem here is that in 5 months of the 15 months when I was absolutely gone (at my home in another state) I was getting billed for extra usage over and above the 2000 gallons. This is of course impossible and I complained to our condo management and to the AUM people. The matter was looked into and the condo people verified that I was in fact not in residence during those months. An adjustment was made by one of the only helpful people employeed by AUM who was able to actually look at daily usage for 3 of the most current months and verified that despite their billings there was absolutely ZERO usage during those months. They could only go back 3 months but accepted that those other months were also wrong.
So the upshot of this was that for my initial complaints and my subsequent adjustments for incorrect bills I got 2 credits for about $150. Also, perhaps as a result of my complaints or perhaps other complaints by owners, our condo has gone to direct billing of unit owners for their combined water/sewage bills. No more dealing with AUM or having to put up with their stupid customer non-service people.
I also see that another building in Atlanta has gripes about AUM and you can see that at: http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/GA-Atlanta-Darlington-Apartments-725295.html
